Social Tools Committee:

The Social Tools Committee will operate in the following way:

• Investigate and evaluate the suitability of various social tools for use in the FAU Reference & Instructional Services, and in other organizational and service capacities within the Library’s communication environment. This might include looking at other libraries' web sites and professional literature. Consider both established tools that we are not using (e.g. Facebook) as well as emerging tools.
• Social Tools being defined as web based applications that further the development of Web 2.0 initiatives, including “the development and evolution of web-based communities, hosted services, and applications such as social-networking sites, video-sharing sites, wikis, blogs, and folksonomies” (Wikipedia, Web 2.0 definition).
• Provide guidance and recommendations to departments and individuals currently managing these tools, creating new forums, or assessing the need for a social tools' solution.

“The Committee’s two main functions are to: Establish standards for tools currently implemented, and provide guidance for the implementation of new tools, and assess their possible use in all aspects of the Libraries' services; and assess tools and recommend their use to solve problems. Members are selected when members leave the committee.”

Web Team Committee:

The FAU Libraries Web Team contributes to the functionality and design of the FAU Libraries Web site. Web Team membership consists of the FAU Libraries deans, directors, department heads and unit coordinators. These members may select another individual from their area to serve on the Web Team as well or to serve in their place.
